Alarm Clock Removed From Amazon Due To RoHS Violation
Alarm clock in violation of EU RoHS due to excessive levels of Mercury
A digital alarm clock has been removed from Amazon.com for failure to comply with the Directive RoHS de l'UE.
The EU Member State of Germany submitted the alert concerning the digital alarm clock. The alarm clock is manufactured in China.
The alarm clock contains a tilt switch filled with approximately 10 µl of Mercury. The enforcement action alert notes that users could be exposed to the mercury in the event that the product gets damaged.

We reported on several additional enforcement actions in January and March. The removal of this product from the market shows that online markets are not immune from EU requirements like EU RoHS, EU REACH, and EU POPs, and shows that member state enforcement agencies are monitoring online sellers including Amazon.
